Kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, painting, carpentry and larger refurbishments inside and out all fall within the home renovation services in Canberra offered by ACT House & Landscaping Maintenance. We are licensed as a Kitchen Bathroom Laundry Renovator and as a Carpenter, with more than two decades of local work behind the business. Every renovation has a project manager who coordinates the trades and keeps you up to date. Read on for what we renovate, how a project runs and what to check before any work starts.

What our home renovation services in Canberra cover

Projects range from refreshing a single room to reworking most of a house. The work we take on includes:

  • Kitchen renovations.
  • Bathroom fitting and renovation.
  • Laundry upgrades.
  • Plastering, plus interior and exterior painting.
  • Carpentry and flooring.
  • Small and large room refurbishments, including granny flats.
  • Complete internal and external refurbishment of a property.

When a design calls for plumbing or electrical work, it is organised within the same project, so you are not chasing separate trades yourself.

Planning a home renovation in Canberra

Good renovations start with a clear list of what is not working now: a kitchen with too little bench space, a bathroom that leaks, a laundry with nowhere to dry clothes. Ranking those problems makes it easier to decide what goes into this project and what can wait. Our step-by-step guide covers budgeting, choosing a design, checking licences and the ACT approvals to look into.

The age of the house matters too. WorkSafe ACT says a residential building constructed or refurbished before 1990 is likely to contain asbestos containing material, in products such as cement sheeting. If your home dates from that era, have suspect materials identified before walls, ceilings or floors are opened up.

How a renovation project runs

  1. Consultation and planning

We start by finding out what matters most to you, then share a plan for the work so you can add your own ideas before anything is locked in.

  2. One project manager

A dedicated project manager runs the project, keeping you updated and making sure each stage follows the agreed plan.

  3. Trades and materials

Work is scheduled with safety and efficiency first, and the trades, tools and materials are coordinated so each stage is ready for the next.

  4. Clean finish

The last step is a full clean of the work area, so the rooms are ready to use.

Renovating with the outdoor area in mind

Because we also handle landscaping, a renovation that changes the back of the house can be planned together with the paving, deck or garden that meets it. On one sloping site, George and Youssef swapped a tired deck for new Merbau decking while Abs and his team built the paving and retaining walls around it.

Still deciding whether to renovate at all? The same step-by-step guide also covers the benefits of renovating. Renovation suits work that changes a room, while smaller repairs sit under house maintenance.

Common questions

Can we stay in the house while you renovate?

That depends on which rooms are involved and for how long they are out of use. Talk it through with us when we look at the space, so the stages can be planned around how you live in the house.

Do you supply the kitchen, or only install it?

Either. We can supply and fit a new kitchen, or fit one you have bought yourself.

How do I get a renovation quoted?

Phone us on 0406 700 400 or send a few details through our contact page, including your suburb and the rooms involved. Someone will then come out to look at the space.
